Donald Trump had 12 of his chosen judges confirmed by the Senate in just his first year in office. That is more than any other president in history has had confirmed in his first year, and those judges will hold their seats until they die or retire. Today we’re going to walk through the impact these judicial confirmations will likely have on the US and how we can work to limit it.

On Monday, Trump reversed long-standing U.S. foreign policy and moved our embassy to Jerusalem, which is contested in the 70-year Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Meanwhile in Gaza, reacting to Palestinian protests and attempts to cross the fence into Israel, the Israel Defense Forces fired live ammunition into the crowds, killing 58 people and wounding thousands, including 17 marked medical personnel.

Last week, the State Department froze funding for Syria’s White Helmets and is reviewing whether to continue it. With a refugee-unfriendly administration, it’s more important than before to support refugees.
