We discussed the European far-right in a previous edition. Since then we’ve seen deadly, Nazi-inspired torchlight marches, disturbingly fluffy profiles on neo-fascists in the New York Times, and our own president amplifying dubious, violent content from a British hate group. For our 101st edition of My Civic Workout, we’re going to do some Nazism 101. This is the first edition in a two-part series on learning more about and standing up against organized hatred.

Fast Lane of the Internet Superhighway

Net neutrality is a fairly basic idea—that everyone should have equal access to the internet, and that internet providers should not be able to dictate which content gets to your devices faster. So it should be just as easy (and fast) to check youth sports scores as it is to read about the dangers of youth tackle football. However, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is working to roll back net neutrality, which would allow internet service providers to legally prioritize content and services they own over those they don’t, throttle speeds, and even block sites.
