Happy Halloween! Want to hear something scary? The open enrollment period to buy Marketplace health insurance (a.k.a. “Obamacare”) for 2018 begins tomorrow, and very few people know about it. The Trump administration has slashed its advertising budget from $100 million to $10 million and has made similar cuts to community outreach programs. For most states, the signup period is half of what it used to be. There will also be a “routine maintenance” shutdown of the main Marketplace website almost every Sunday until noon during the enrollment period. Boo to this! Let’s get people covered.
