Supporting Indigenous Peoples' Day

Rather than a celebration of Christopher Columbus, how about using the second Monday in October for a celebration of indigenous people? This is a move that not only acknowledges the injustice of how the U.S. has historically treated indigenous people, it celebrates the indigenous people who are very much still here and standing strong. One hundred twenty-nine cities and eleven states have already renamed today’s holiday Indigenous People’s Day, with D.C. being the most recent with its declaration for this year.
