On Tuesday night in Phoenix, President Trump delivered his fourth campaign rally of the year, and it was a doozy. In it, Trump threatened a government shutdown, hinted at a pardon for embattled racist Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and misquoted himself in an effort to defend his statements after the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. Today we are talking about white supremacy, racism, and small actions you can take to fight back.
No More Monuments to Slavery
Organized white supremacists mobbed Charlottesville to protest the fact that the city is taking down a statue of Robert E. Lee. This statue went up less than 100 years ago, in the middle of a campaign of intimidationagainst black Virginians. Now it has become a rallying point for white supremacists, and the scene of the murder of counterprotestor Heather Heyer. Today, we’re going to fight back against the potent symbolism of white supremacy.
